Accompanying the ones who accompany
The process of recovery is a long and difficult process that requieres help not only of the professionals but also of the loved ones. Parents, partners, friends or children can often feel lost of terms of how to best help. They can also feel tired and frustrated and supporting them is a crucial part of the process.
Our program includes accompanying the carers to make sure we are all aligned and we work towards the same goals in coherent way.
At Art Clinic we know that families and companions are an important part of the recovery process.
How do we do it?
- Before starting the program it is important to both assess the needs of each patient and tailor de treatment to each particular situation.
- The family/companions will be invited to participate according to their possibilities and needs.
- We provide and encourage a weekly space of group therapy for the families, alternating nutritional support and psychotherapy.
- This group sessions are designed to help the families be on board with the approach, clarify doubts, work on situations that are difficult to handle but also to have the chance to talk about eating and nutrition, a crucial part of the recovery.
- Additionally, family therapy sessions for each family, can be held to help work on family dynamics and thus contributing to recovery.
